Neuropsychological Evaluation Process
While it is shorter for younger children, the neuropsychological evaluation will typically require approximately four hours of direct testing, which is usually completed in one day, with two sessions separated by a lunch break. I will initially meet with the parents for about an hour to discuss your child’s history, the specific nature of the concerns, and the purpose of the evaluation. If your child would have difficulty waiting on their own during that meeting, please make the necessary arrangements.
I conduct all of the testing myself - I do not utilize technicians to administer tests because I believe strongly that this provides me with a greater opportunity for a first-hand understanding of any challenges. The assessment procedures are conducted at a table and utilize question-and-answer formats, booklets, some computer based activities, and various materials to work with on the tabletop. For children inclined to worry, they should be reassured that there is nothing “medical” or invasive in the evaluation process - it is much more comparable to school activities - though many children find at least aspects of the testing interesting and/or fun.
Prior to the appointment date, forms will be mailed for completion by the parents as well as the child’s teacher(s) and any therapists who would have valuable input. These forms can either be returned prior to the appointment or simply brought with you on the day of the evaluation.
Evaluation Cost
The cost of the evaluation is $2500.00, which includes the testing and the preparation of the clinical report. While I do not accept any insurance payments directly, once full payment has been received, you will be provided with a detailed invoice that can be submitted to your insurance company for whatever reimbursement your coverage provides. Full payment for the assessment is expected on the day of the evaluation.
Payment can be made with cash, check, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and HSA).
